Opening for The Killers at Latitude Festival

Jul 14, 2018

We were honoured to make our debut at Latitude’s 2018 Festival. 60 of the choir’s 300-strong singers opened Saturday in the 8000-capacity BBC Music Stage tent.

The prestigious appearance featured a specially-curated set featuring songs by Latitude acts past-and-present – including Florence & The Machine, Blondie, Alt-J and, of course, 2018’s headliners The Killers. It added to a tremendous year, following our UK singles download chart debut, launch of a 6th choir in Stowmarket, and in advance of our Ipswich Regent Theatre debut concert.

Melvin Benn, Managing Director of Latitude organisers Festival Republic, kindly donated £1,000 towards Ipswich-based Iceni, Pop Chorus’s current charity partner, in lieu of any fee. Iceni supports families facing addiction, poverty and inequality issues in Ipswich and Suffolk, to give children the opportunity to have a safe, healthy and happy start in life.

Choir Director, Yula Andrews, said “We’re thrilled to playing Suffolk’s biggest festival and can’t wait to perform our special set in front of the Latitude crowd. I’ve loved attending the festival as a fan, so it’s great to be sharing the stage with so many acts we respect so much.”
