‘Winter Songbook’, our return to Ipswich Corn Exchange

Dec 1, 2019

We returned to Ipswich’s Corn Exchange on 1st December 2019 for a unique performance of our winter repertoire, with special guests Honey & The Bear.

Matinee and evening concerts, each featuring over 150 singers, whisked audiences through a magical hour of atmospheric songs and lush harmonies. From Kate Bush to U2 and even a couple of traditional songs, we gave our sparkling take on the festive season. The choir were also thrilled to welcome local folk-roots duo Honey & The Bear as our guests. Lucy and Jon’s emotive and evocative music showcases their beautiful interweaving vocals and extraordinary instrumental skills.

‘Winter Songbook’ marked the end of another brilliant year for the choir, including performances at Suffolk Show, Latitude and First Light Festivals, collaborations including BBC Radio 6 Music featured artist Mara Simpson, plus an appearance on Dermot O’Leary’s Radio 2 show!

Pop Chorus were also raising funds on the evening for Ipswich-based charity Families In Need (FIND), who provide everything from food parcels to furniture and bedding to help those in need get through a crisis. FIND has met increasing demand over the past 30 years and now distributes over 100 parcels a week (more than 6,000 a year) through its 80-strong volunteer team

Choir Director, Yula Andrews, said “We’ve built up some gorgeous winter repertoire over the years and can’t wait to bring a touch of enchantment and delight to our Corn Exchange audiences at the start of the festive season.”
